There are some pretty weird grown-ups living in Bailey City. But could the hairy Camp Director really be a werewolf?
The Bailey School Kids are going to find out!
In my review of Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots, the first book of the Bailey School Kids series, I alluded to the early installment weirdness of the story, and I'm going to bring it up again with Werewolves Don't Go to Summer Camp. As of the second book in the series, Dadey and Thornton still haven't quite gotten into the swing of things, and Werewolves is a bit of an oddball compared to later books.
Unlike most of the series, which occurs during the children's third grade year, Werewolves is a bit more ambiguous. It either occurs during the summer before third grade or the summer after; personally, I'm going with before, as no mention is made of Mrs. Jeepers and the children return to the camp at least once later in the series.
But in spite of some of the less typical aspects, Werewolves is still an Adventures of the Bailey School Kids book at heart. It's funny, mysterious, and even a little spooky--a great read for a young kid.
I definitely recommend the series to young readers!
