[Book Review] Merry Christmas, Curious George by Catherine Hapka

It’s Christmastime! And irrepressible, excitable Curious George has just the spirit for it. He can’t wait to help his best friend, The Man with the Yellow Hat, pick out their holiday tree. At the tree farm, however, amid all the excitement of finding the perfect specimen, George gets carried away, as usual—atop his favorite tree! Hiding in the tree’s branches, George finds himself delivered to the local children’s hospital, where his tree trimming antics cheer the children and he gets to meet a jolly man in a bright red suit.

Merry Christmas, Curious George is, obviously enough, a Christmas-themed Curious George book in which Curious George is accidentally delivered, along with an evergreen tree, to a children's hospital. There he gets into his typical shenanigans, cheering up the sick children as he does so. After being reunited with the man in the yellow hat, Curious George and the children get to meet the hospital's Santa Claus.

In other words, it's a cute little picture book that should entertain young children who celebrate Christmas. (While it presents a secular Christmas--i.e., Santa Claus instead of Jesus--it does not acknowledge other winter holidays.) And it should make a great Christmas read (or gift!) for toddlers.
